Question
Does the BoatU.S. Towing Service apply if I am a guest on a friend's boat?
Answer
If a Member is a guest on a boat and the owner is also present, regardless of who is at the helm, the owner would be responsible for having the appropriate towing service, not the guest Member on board.

Question
My Membership has expired and I'm going boating tomorrow. Can I renew my membership over the phone and have an active Membership tomorrow?
Answer
Yes. With any major credit card we can renew any Membership right over the phone. Expired Memberships will be re-activated at 11:59p.m. on the day of payment.

Question
If I travel to a different state or waterway, will my towing service apply?
Answer
Yes. Your on the water towing service travels with you and will provide assistance up to the level you have selected on any body of water where you take your boat.

Question
Do you assist jet skis, wave runners, and other personal watercraft?
Answer
Yes, TowBoatU.S. provides service to all recreational watercraft.

Question
What is the "Theft Reward" Program?
Answer
This deterrent program helps to protect your boat and equipment from theft and vandalism - at no additional cost to you. BoatU.S. will pay up to a $2,500 cash reward to any person or persons providing information resulting in the arrest and conviction of a thief or vandal. Registration is automatic with Membership. Simply display your BoatU.S. Theft Reward Decal.

Question
Where can I get a quote on boat insurance?
Answer
BoatU.S. offers low-cost, quality coverage boat insurance. Online quotes are available at BoatUS.com or by calling 877-476-7630. In many cases, we are able to bind insurance over the phone, making it effective that day.

Question
Is BoatU.S. Membership required to get a quotation?
Answer
No. You don't need to be a member of BoatU.S. to get a quote. However, this is a group program based on the BoatU.S. group loss experience so should you decide to accept the quotation you will need to join BoatU.S. to take advantage of this benefit of Membership. This can be arranged at the same time you initiate your insurance coverage. The $25 annual Membership dues are reduced to $19.00 per year when you join online or through the marine insurance program. Your Membership also includes $50 per incident towing service as well as over 26 additional benefits and services.

Question
Where do you provide insurance coverage?
Answer
Coverage is available anywhere in the United States (excluding Alaska and Wyoming) with seasonal cruising extensions available to Canada, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Mexico. Premium discounts are available for selecting restricted cruising areas such as the Chesapeake Bay or Puget Sound. Let us know where you will be using your boat and we will match you to an appropriate area at the best rate available.

Question
Is towing service included with the BoatU.S. Policy?
Answer
The BoatU.S. Yacht Policy provides coverage for salvage, fuel spill containment & clean up, wreck removal and emergency towing necessary to protect the boat from further damage in the event of a covered loss. Non-emergency tows for such things as running out of gas, having a dead battery, or soft grounding are included in the BoatU.S. Membership Towing Service, not the boat insurance policy. This way, non-emergency tows are not recorded on your boat insurance claims record.

Question
Are there discounts for successfully completing safe boating classes?
Answer
Yes. The BoatU.S. Program awards premium discounts for successful completion of any safe boating courses approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). These include courses by the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Power Squadron, Red Cross, the online course administered by the BoatU.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and others.
