Hints for getting the most out of the BoatU.S. Consumer Protection database:
  • The number of complaints per company may reflect market share and is not to be taken as a company rating.
  • The database contains a limited number of reports about smaller companies, marinas and dealers simply because fewer consumers buy their products or utilize their services.
  • The database contains some complaints dating from the early 1980s and earlier, but the majority are more recent.
  • Searches can involve a single model and problem or the entire spectrum of reports about a specific make or model. For help with a criterion, place your cursor on or click the button beside the criterion.

The database will be updated periodically, so visit often!

Enter one or more values to search the complaint database

Manufacturer, Company, or Dealer:   Enter Manufacturer or Company OR, select from the dropdown list:

Model Information:  For 'model information': Enter model name, number or boat length, example Dolphin, 2800 or 28

Model Year:   Type YYYY for a specific year or 197 for all 1970-79, 198 for all 1980-89, 199 for all 1990-99 and 200 for all 2000-current year.

Complaint Date:  Select how many days back to display complaints.

State/Location:  Select a state/country to display complaints.

Complaint Subject:  Select a complaint subject (or choose Other to enter a subject), to display complaints.
