After many hours of troubleshooting a no spark issue that cause me to be towed in, I finally found out about the shift interrupt switch on the older Alpha drives.  I have a 1987 Formula PC with 454 Mag and MR Drive.
I disconnected the green/white wires from the switch and the motor started.  My question is, will I be able to use the boat/shift gears while I order a switch.
I have heard you cant get back to neutral with out turning off the key.  Thanks in advance for any info.

This is usually true. The switch kills the motor for a split second while shifting into neutral to allow the two gears to separate. I remember having a few old boats myself when i was young that the switch didn't work on at all. Never stopped me from going out, but ya gotta remember about it to stop...
